On the evening of December 31st - New Year's Eve- what should have been an exciting and joyous start to 2019, turned into a desperate and scary night for the Ludwar family of London, Ontario.
Linda and Lawrence's 35 year old son, who has been living with mental illness for many years, suffered what is being described as a psychotic break after being cleared and released from Woodstock Hospital on Saturday evening.
During this episode he began damaging and destroying most items on the main floor of the family's home where he had been living. Ripping cupboards apart, smashing TVs, breaking furniture, dishes, collectibles and cherished family items, he was certainly unable to control himself.
Their son was admitted to a psychiatric ward in a London Hospital and will hopefully receive the level of treatment, diagnosis and support that has been missing. Their story was recently covered by CTV news, and Linda speaks in an honest and compelling way to share their experiences with mental health care and some of their son's journey to this point. Unfortunately for the Ludwar family, their insurance provider will not be covering this extensive damage as it was done by a resident of the home. Friends of the family have started this page to help them replace the items that were damaged/destroyed and any remaining money will be used to ensure their son receives the best possible treatment once released from hospital.
