Lucian Stories for St. Lucian Kids

I am Claudette Bekha Charles. I was born in St. Lucia and later migrated to the US.  I am a parent and a teacher who came to realize that there is not enough quality children's literature for St. Lucian children, about St. Lucian children.  I feel a strong social and cultural responsibility to help fill this gap.

I am writing a series stories, seen through the eyes of a little curious, adventurous, energetic, annafè girl called Wyetta. The stories will highlight  many of the rich day-to-day experiences that children in St. Lucia enjoyed when I was a child, and still enjoy up till today. The stories are also rich with narratives, questions, illustrations, and insights that will help our children appreciate and value St. Lucian life, culture, and heritage.

This project has been a labour of love and pride. The first two books have been published.  I have tried to keep the cost of production as low as possible.  However, even at the nominal price of US $10.00 per book, many schools and children in St. Lucia cannot afford to buy these books. 

I would really like to place at least two copies of each book in every primary school and library unit in St. Lucia, that is about 500 books. Please help me meet this goal by donating whatever you can to help put these books in the hands of our children in St.Lucia. All of your donations will go directly to funding this series of books and delivering them to the schools and libraries in St.Lucia.
