Hey y'all! My name is Lindsay.

I've never been a damsal in distress until this year. Asking folks for help is extrememly new and uncomfortable for me. I mean, why should someone help me with something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with them?

If it was just me, shoot. I'd just live out of my car- I've done it before. But I have fur babies and I'm stuck in a lease- which, if it was just my credit on the line, I'd break it.

So what's got me writing this story to ask for finacial support from the cyber community?

Divorce and work compensation.

After separating from my husband for a lack of financial and emotional support, almost 6 months later, he filed for divorce. . .breaking the original agreement of a no fault simple divorce.

It would have cost me $5,000 just to retain a lawyer:
Needless to say, your girl here doesn't have 5k just laying around, so I'm pulling a legally blonde and representing myself. I took off work from the 8th-10th so I could prepare for my court hearing.

During the hearing, I was given 60 days to come up with $1700 for a bill my ex and I were both responsible for. I'm confident I can be credited this amount back after mediation, but I have to pay it before discussions are complete.

As far as work goes, I've made very decent money. . .until I got moved to a new business. I went from making $3000 a month, to $1500. I'm going on my 3rd month of making half what I'm used to making and I already know that my commission checks won't cover me for the next two months.

So, here's the timeline and penalties for my expenses:
Due Aug 5th, Eviction by the 15th: Rent = $1,300
Due Sept 5th, Eviction by the 15th: Rent = $1,300
Due Oct 10th or Jail time: Court Order = $1700

I'm nervous asking for help, but I honestly don't know what else to do. It would mean so much to me to get help during this time- I'm so overwhelmed and didn't want any of this to happen. I simply just wanted to quietly separate for a year, then get the divorce.
