LRC's Story Continues Through You

The Good News
Once upon a time in Polk County, Florida some thoughtful and generous members of the Junior League of Greater Lakeland decided to help a special group of struggling students.

The Learning Disabilities Center provided these families with personalized counseling and supplemental education programs for their students.

In 1977 the name was changed to Learning Resource Center of Polk County, Inc. (LRC), and programs expanded to include all students who needed to maximize their learning.

Over 42 years have passed since that small group of volunteers worked long hours from borrowed space to achieve those noble goals.

The Not So Good News
Today, LRC’s small staff and volunteers strive daily to continue coordinating services for 3,500 plus students, ages five through adult, all over Polk County.

The recent Hurricane Irma damage to our LRC Center has caused over $100,000 in cleanup, repairs and replacement with no reimbursement for lost income. Federal, state and local grant awards have decreased, and fewer families have been able to pay for our individualized services in a timely manner or at all.

Consequently, more than ever before, we need YOU to help rewrite our story to make sure that all our LRC Students…learn happily ever after!
You can help by making a donation and sharing our cause with others. Every amount is a step closer towards our goal.

With your gift, the LRC story will live on beyond the challenges of today!
