LPHS Kiki Umla Ring
Donation protected
The Lake Placid Horse Show Association has initiated plans to expand one of the riding rings that will allow for more riding space during the annual Lake Placid Horse Shows.
The expansion plan creates an additional 11,000 square feet of riding room by expanding the ring at the back of the grounds from its previous 17,000 square feet (100’ x 170’) to 28,000 square feet (140’ x 200’). The ring will be named in memory of Kiki Umla, one of the hunter-jumper circuit’s most beloved figures who often monitored that ring in her roles as a USEF steward and schooling supervisor.
The ring expansion has already been completed and it is ready for use this summer. After the 2018 shows conclude, the footing will be replaced and upgraded for the 2019 season.
Thanks to strong internal support from the Executive Committee, the Board, and other personal commitments, more than $60,000 has already been raised. However, there is still a long way to go to reach the fundraising goal of $150,000 that will make this new ring a reality. Any donation, big or small, is a great way to both honor Kiki and support the future of the Lake Placid Horse Shows.
The options for donating to the Kiki Umla Ring Project are as follows:
1. Make check payable directly to the Lake Placid Horse Show Association and mail to 5514 Cascade Road, Lake Placid NY 12946
2. Donate electronically through Go Fund Me. These donations are not tax-deductible.
3. For a tax deductible donation, make check payable to the Town of North Elba. Please mail to the Lake Placid Horse Shows and mail to 5514 Cascade Road, Lake Placid NY 12946. A receipt will follow from the Town of North Elba.
