OUR STORY:
After over 3 months of tests, Jim has been diagnosed with stage 4 Gastric Cancer; he has nodules in his lungs and one in his brain. The cancer is inoperable, but we are planning to do everything possible medically. Jim has been active and healthy in the past year, perhaps healthier than ever, bike riding 80 miles a week. Suddenly being faced with this diagnosis has been challenging to get our heads and hearts around.
Nevertheless, that is what we are doing--moving forward through what needs to be done and together, with the experts, choosing how to best do exactly that. He has had focused laser radiation on the small brain tumor as a first step in this process. There was another biopsy of a lung nodule to try and further identify the biomarkers and formulate a more targeted treatment protocol. His first chemo treatment was November 30th.
We are so grateful for the outstanding medical care and facilities in the Los Angeles, CA area where we currently live. (We are here for Jim's amazing project as the architectural quality control manager for the new LAX terminal.)
We are determined to do all that we can for Jim’s healing. To promote this, we are utilizing conventional treatments and integrative medicine--all supportive therapies, simultaneously. We have found an excellent integrative doctor who is proficient in working with the conventional oncologists and has been doing so for the past 35 years. Together we are developing a synergistic plan to combine all expertise available to support Jim in the best way possible.
While our insurance is covering most but not all of the standard medical care, this holistic approach demands a tremendous amount of energy--physical, emotional, and spiritual. In addition, it is demanding a significant amount of out of pocket finances. We are utilizing all of our personal assets to cover what we can, but this will be a prolonged treatment program for Jim’s healing.
So... we are starting this GoFundMe campaign to ask for financial donations from our family and community. For those of you who have asked how you can offer support, monetary contributions are most needed and would be greatly appreciated, if you are able. For those that would like to send Jim some supportive energy, we have set up specific times for remote group healing, which are known to be be extremely powerful when done at the same time from wherever you are. Even if you just have 5 minutes, he will be lying down for 30 minutes to receive some love, healing, positive juju and prayers on these days:
Sunday mornings at 8am PST and Wednesday Evenings 6pm PST. These will be ongoing biweekly. (Feel free to do this at any time if these times don’t work for you.)
If you don’t have a particular practice, sending love and visualizing him completely healed and whole is the best! Without fear please.
Of course we are praying for miracles, doing our best to keep the faith and working this healing on all levels.
