Celebrate Lydia Anzures-Sullivan

On July 31st, beautiful, inspirational, and irreplaceable Lydia became more than we can know for now. She is missed and loved in ways that words cannot describe and 9 years was too short of a time for us to love her. We will continue loving her for all of time. 

Kevin and Lindsey are immensely grateful for your expressions of care and concern and they are finally ready to come together with everyone. A Celebration of Lydia is being planned for the weekend of August 26th, 27th, 28th.  If you'd like to support, please feel free to donate anonymously or in name. Funds raised will not only support the Celebration of Life, but will also be directed towards the critical efforts of raising awareness and research on rare syndromes.

Memorializing someone we have lost is an important piece in the process of grief and healing. I believe it is especially critical that parents who lose a child are able to hold something which facilitates this process. There will be no first dance, no graduation, nor wedding to plan...let's help to create something that holds meaning for them now. I know they have advocated for children with special needs tirelessly and with this fund they will be able to continue their work.

Kevin and Lindsey are loved by so many people, but more importantly...admired. Their selfless dedication to their family flowed with great ease. Not that it was always easy. They responded with ease, as if there were no other way except joy when it came to caring for Lydia. At times, I remember feeling a touch of shame when I would complain about my own life and then glimpse one of their posts on Facebook. But, I didn't stay in shame. I quickly shifted into inspiration and hope. After all, that is what they are.

I will leave the writing about Lydia up to you all. I didn't know her as well as I know her parents. I only know what she meant to me.
