Love for Logan

Our sweet Logan was born on March 8, 2016. He was born at a (super) healthy 9lb 15oz and seemed to be a typical healthy, happy baby for the first few weeks. His bright smile lit up the world around him but his family started noticing a lack of movement in his legs as time was progressing. At his 4 month checkup, he was diagnosed with hypotonia (weak muscle tone) and referred to a neurologist at Children's Mercy in Kansas City to determine the cause.

Logan is now nearly 7 months and has never rolled over, cannot sit supported or support his head while sitting or during tummy time. He can no longer move his legs and the small extent that he can reach out with his arms takes great effort. He is unable to hold a toy in his hand or even reach out to touch his mother's face. Multiple blood tests have been ran, as well as an MRI, and all tests have come back normal. Due to the regression in his movements, the neurologist said that Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is her top concern. This fatal degenerative disease is life-changing and would not hold a good prognosis. Logan is scheduled for an EMG soon and genetics testing to determine the diagnosis. 

We are asking for prayers, love and support for this sweet family as they embark on a journey that no parent would ever want to face with their precious child. Donations will go towards Logan's medical bills from the extensive testing that has been done and is yet to complete, as well as expenses incurred for the multiple trips involved for appointments and tests that each take place over 3 hours from their home. Regardless of the diagnosis, Logan will need special equipment as he progresses through physical therapy which comes with additional costs to the family.

We are confident that God is using this journey and Logan's story to do great things, even though we may not see His plan in each moment. Heather and Greg have shown great Faith as they have learned to hold on to the Truth of our Lord to carry them through the difficult moments and the unknown of what each new day brings.
