When my dear friend Cori reached out to me to help her raise funds for her sister Jackie whom is battling cancer I stepped up right away .
Cori is not the type of person to ask for help but the kind to give it! So for her to reach out to me, I knew she was desperate and sincere.
Of course I would help!
Jacqueline was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer, a very rare and aggressive type of cancer.
June of 2017 she had surgery, followed a few weeks later by chemotherapy for half a year. Fast forward to 7 months after that - both the doctors and her family were taken aback to learn that the cancer had returned. She immediately re-started her second round of chemotherapy in less than a year as she was unable to undetake another surgery. Tee stakes wouuld be even higher as this round would take a greater toll on her body.
Treatments recommend here in Ottawa were all on a trial bassis and extremely hard on Jackie's frail body. This is when Jackie and and her family decided to research other options.
Through research and deternation Jackie and her family found one! However it is in Mexico, called Immunity Therapy Clinic which is a form of immuno-nutrition therapy. It uses lower doses of conventional oncological medications to cause damage to cancer cells, while at the same time stimulating the innate immune system to recognize the danger signals and attack the cancer cells. A strict diet is also involved with this treatment. This treatment is not available in Canada, nor is it covered or subsidized in any manner and is very expensive. The contributions will be used to cover the costs of the treatment and the medications required.
She did 6 weeks of treatment in Mexico and now at home she is doing a in home treatment for 3 months that she started in mid October 2018.
Jackie is halfway through treatment and she and her family's finances have been depleted. But that's not the worst of it .The worst, yet best part is the treatment is WORKING!! The cancer is SHRINKING!!
This is where everyones help is needed! How can one put a value on life!? Without additional funding Jackie cannot complete her treatment that is working and so desperately needed at this time!
Jackie is a beacon of light to her family. She lost her husband 17 years ago and has spent her life raising her then 2 young sons on her own giving them the best she could .She has raised two young loving, caring and educated young men. These boys want nothing more than to have their mother kick cancers ass so she can see them marry one day and have children of their own.
Jackie is a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend. Jackie is very much loved and needs our help .
