Love for the Odums

Donation protected

Update: From Ashley:
“It’s a sad time for me. It’s a sad time for my kids. It’s a sad time for everyone. I guess most of you already know that Jon fought all he could, but the tumor grew and swelled so much over the course of four days that his brain couldn’t take anymore. God ended Jon’s pain and suffering, which is what I’ve asked for all along. He always answers our prayers, but sometimes in ways we don’t expect.
Jon hasn’t felt good now for almost three years, but most of you never would’ve known that. He rarely complained. He didn’t want to worry me.
He loved me, he loved our kids, and we love him right back. He and I were the real deal. I’ll love him forever.
He gave God the glory through it all, and he was a real Trojan until the end. He’s finally able to rest, and I’m so thankful. Our family, especially our children, need lots of prayers, so please NEVER STOP PRAYING.
Love,
Coach’ Wife

Original Post:
Jon Odum, teacher at Wallace Middle School and Coach of the John S. Battle Varsity Boys Basketball and Golf teams, was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor after being in remission for a previous malignant and aggressive brain tumor.

Jon will begin polio immunotherapy beginning on January 7 at Duke University. The research team is confident in this treatment plan, which will require a week's stay, followed by weekly, then bi-weekly, then monthly, and then bi-monthly visits for a year. These visits will require extensive travel and accommodations, and will require both he and his wife Ashley (a wonderful and respected teacher at JSB) to miss work for the appointments.

If you know any of the Odums, then you already love them and want to help in any way that you can. If at all possible, please consider donating. All proceeds will go directly to the Odum family; they are incredibly humbled by the love and generosity they have experienced thus far, and thankful for such a wonderful and supportive community.

Thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity, and prayers!

As Ashley always says, "NEVER STOP PRAYING!"
