Love for Livi Grace

Meet Livi Grace! Livi is an almost 2 year old bundle of pure JOY. She was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta at birth. OI is also known as brittle bone disease. Sadly, there is no cure for this disease and she has suffered over 60 fractures since birth. In her short little life Liv has undergone 3 major surgeries— including having rods placed in the long bones of both of her legs (which will have to be done several time as she grows). She also has a hip dysplaysia, called coxa vara, and recently had an extensive surgery to correct that. With all of these challenges and all of the pain she has endured she continues to amaze us with her resilience and spunk. This yucky disease does not only effect her bones, as her tiny body does not produce collagen so anything that requires collagen is affected, including her teeth, organs, eyes and hearing.

Livi also has 2 big sisters! Elleigh Rae and Maci Kate! They are the best big sisters.

Unbelievably, Livi’s youngest big sis— Maci Kate had recently been consistently complaining of headaches. Not much was thought about it, it was just shrugged off as a simple headache. She then started complaining that her eyes were hurting, so that prompted a visit to an eye doctor. The eye doctor said MK had no vision problems the only thing that she saw that could be concerning was that her optic nerve was enlarged or swollen. After further testing, it has been discovered that Maci Kate has multiple lesions (likely cysts) on her brain that is also requiring many specialists visits and possibly surgery.

The odds are unbelievable for all this family has gone through with their children’s health. With many health issues comes insurmountable medical bills. The Wix’s are drowning in them with no end in sight. Livi has 2 more surgeries in the near future, one being dental that will not be covered more than 80% by insurance. Not only that, there are future expenses that seem completely out of reach (handicap accessible vehicle, modifications to their home to make it handicap accessible etc.) Brandon is a fireman working 2 jobs to keep them afloat and Lindsay has recently had to leave her job of 11 years to stay home full-time to care for Liv. They do not qualify for government disability or financial assistance. No amount is too small. Any bit helps. If you can’t donate, please share!
