Love for Gwen and Guy

Let me tell you about two of the STRONGEST people that I know, Gwen and Gaius Garro. I’ll start with the medical aspect of this. Guy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right humerus. He had been undergoing chemotherapy and last week, on January 9th, he underwent surgery where the doctors successfully removed five inches of bone with the muscle from the arm, removed the fibula from his left leg and used that bone as a graft in his arm. Both his arm and leg should be fully functional after physical therapy and he will now continue chemotherapy to make sure that all of the cancer is gone! Guy has continued to be his little badass self through all of this with a thumbs up and a smile and wink on his face. For anyone who may not know him, he has the best personality for a child that any adult could ever ask for! Haha. I’ve been known to tell people that he’s the only child (besides my younger siblings of course *wink*) that I’ve ever actually liked (sorry to all of my other friends with kids haha). He is my littlest friend. Smart, social, hilarious-he gets this from both of his parents. Unfortunately Guy’s dad, Travis, passed away from cancer when Guy was still very little. A lot of people would have understandably sat and dwelled in depression and self pity after something like that happened, but not Gwen or Guy. They have continued to live and love life in Travis’ honor! So it’s no surprise to those of us who know them how strong they are being right now. But with strength can sometimes come pride and stubbornness. Gwen is a very proud person and does not want to ask anyone for what she considers handouts. And if you ask her if she needs anything, she’ll more than likely tell you that she’s good. When I initially told her that I would create a Go Fund Me for them, I immediately got a “No”. While she is unable to work at this time, Gwen knows that she can handle anything that life throws at her and wants to be able to support her family herself. BUT WE ALL NEED HELP SOMETIMES! There is no shame in asking for it and since I have no shame(lol), here I am asking on her behalf. I know that they could very much use any extra money to go towards bills, medical expenses that may not be covered by insurance and various other life things such as groceries and gas. Gwen is fully aware that she is incredibly fortunate to have an amazing support system and so many people who love them... but she would never come out and ask anyone for money. So hopefully this could be a way for any of those people to help if they were wondering what they could do to ease this situation a little bit. There is one thing that I ask though and that is to NOT donate out of pity. Gwen and Guy are so amazing and know that they will get through this even stronger than they were before. Obviously everyone has different emotional reactions to news like this but pity and sad faces are not accepted. Donate from a place of love and support. Know that they will get through this and cheer them on along the way! Any amount will be greatly appreciated!! And if you can’t donate (or even if you do), please feel free to help by sharing this around! Thank you soooo much!
