Love and Support for Franky!

If you've met him, you know how incredible he is...our friend and yours, Franky Scaglione. Franky has been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and needs our support! Franky, Annie, Marzio and Silvana have a challenging road ahead and would love the support of friends and family!
In the weeks and months to come, Franky will undergo treatment that will break down and overcome the cancer cells. This treatment will not be easy and will require him to be confined to a space separate from his family in order to keep them safe as well. The treatment has had good success in other patients so we remain optimistic on its success!
As many of you know, Franky and Annie are Art Teachers and just started a new school year at NEW position in schools in Buffalo, NY. This is a tough time of year for any teacher, let alone one going through a large life hurdle like Franky and Annie. The amount of personal/sick days allotted through the school district may not be enough to cover the time needed as cancer treatment is quite time consuming, expensive and uncertain. If you have ever seen Franky in his classroom, you know that there is not a more dedicated teacher, with a desire to connect with students and help them see their potential! With the probable days needed for treatment these funds you donate will help them focus on the important things life is giving them. As you can imagine, Franky does not want to miss any days with his students, but it will be necessary as the treatment continues. The sooner there are funds in place the more comfortable he will be as he begins to get closer to the last of his allotted sick days.
We invite you to support Franky and Annie financially, however we understand that may not be possible for everyone. However, we would ask that you consider posting this to social media or emailing it to any contacts you may have that have been impacted by Franky Scaglione. If you can share a personal story of how he has affected your life and what he means to you, that would mean the world! You sharing your story of connection may inspire others to share their stories, or support financially. Also, Franky needs to see the massive impact he has made on so many lives!
The Scaglione's are beginning this journey now and can use all the love, support, prayers and beautiful intention that you can send them. -Treatment Plan-
As of 9.25.19 the treatment plan will be the following:
Franky will be working with Dr. Arshad, head and neck oncologist, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The diagnosis is officially Metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.
October 1: Franky will go in for a CT scan of his neck and chest.
October 9: Franky will go in for an ultrasound of his thyroid and cervical lymph nodes... consult with the anesthesiologist and Dr. Arshad on some other factors as well.
October 22: Date of Surgery (timing and extent may change pending results of imaging). Current plan is that Franky will need to have three surgeries: total thyroidectomy, central lymph nodes below thyroid, and left neck dissection.
Hospital stay will be 2-3 days depending on calcium levels.
Recovery...
Mid December, 2019 - meet with nuclear medicine MD to discuss radioactive iodine ablation. This will require Franky to be away from his children for multiple days (unsure how long). This should take care of the cancer and move life more towards normal. After this, Dr Arshad will monitor the area with scans and future plans.
