Love and Light for JAZJ

Hello Beautiful Family and Friends,

This past Saturday, June 16th, as Jay, Amy, Zach and Jordan were heading to Denver to see Jay's mom on a summer family trip, they were hit in a very bad car accident on I-25 between Pueblo  and Colorado Springs that has and will continue to have a lifelong impact on them and all who know them.

All four were rushed to a trauma center in Colorado Springs, and we feel so blessed that they are all four still with us....it's truly a miracle they survived the magnitude of the impact on their Mazda 3 (pretty grateful for the engineering/construction of the car that helped save their lives).

Jordan has been discharged after undergoing surgery to fix her dislocated hip.

Jay has been discharged after sustaining multiple breaks in the small bones radiating from his spine, severe and deep heel lacerations, and severe head trauma.

Zach is tentatively scheduled to be transported on Monday to Craig Hospital (https://craighospital.org), a specialty rehab for those with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Zach suffered from severe head trauma and a broken femur.  His expected stay at Craig is approximately two to four weeks of inpatient care.

Amy sustained injuries of the most concern: multiple small strokes after a carotid bleed created a blood clot that was traveling to her brain before risky surgery removed the blood clot, a broken scapula, a collapsed lung, and multiple broken ribs.  Amy is tentatively scheduled to be transported to Craig Hospital on Tuesday, and her expected stay at Craig is approximately six to eight weeks.

We have already seen miraculous and incredibly hopeful progress for each member of this amazing family.  That being written, they each have a long way to go - physically and emotionally. Your prayers and healing thoughts and energy are greatly appreciated.  Additionally, we're reaching out for help to cover some daunting financial costs.

This GoFundMe goal is initially $ 45,000.  We're hoping to blow that goal exponentially out of the water, as every day brings more information, more questions, more unknowns, accumulating hospital bills, and potentially the need for more financial resources. We honestly don't know how much Jay, Amy, Zach, Jordan - and extended family, traveling to and from all across the county to support Amy and Zach at Craig Hospital (a BIG part of the recovery process) - will need in days/weeks/months to come. We also don't know what will be needed after Zach's and Amy's discharge from Craig. Nor do we know what long-term resources will be needed for Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan in terms of emotional support and counseling.

Because Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan are the incredible people they are, they want this fund to already be a "pay it forward" kind of thing.  Please help us hit the initial goal, and EXCEED it (let's shoot for multiplying that initial goal by five), so that future expenses can be provided for, and more importantly, we can all contribute to some peace of mind with finances so Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan can focus on their health and well-being.  If they blessedly don't need all funds raised, they will be "paying forward" to the Craig Hospital Foundation. We will keep you informed about how your meaningful generosity is creating miracles.

As stated, the initial campaign goal is $ 45,000. This will be used in the following ways:

- High deductibles for Amy's, Zach's, and Jordan's family insurance plan.

- High deductible for Jay's individual insurance plan.

- After deductible of insurance policies are met, family contributions towards what the insurance doesn’t cover for their hospital stay and specialized care in Colorado Springs, and at Craig in Denver.

- Ongoing costs beyond the initial emergency/trauma/ICU care, and beyond Craig are still undetermined.

As we come together as a special community supporting Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan at this difficult and challenging time, we are constantly marveling at big and little and "ordinary" miracles that present themselves daily.

Thank you for reading this narrative.  We appreciate any help or contribution, no matter how big or small! If possible, please share our campaign link on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and with your friends and family.  We will keep you posted on the use of funds and their progress going forward.  Any questions, please contact Stacy.

FAQ:

Who is leading and why are we leading this GoFundMe campaign?

This campaign has been set up by Stacy Kirch (Jay's sister) . We are raising the fund on behalf of Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan Kirch, and extended family after a bad car accident created the need for extensive financial resources.

Why is fundraising for this family necessary now?

You can imagine the amount of things and unknowns and questions spinning in Jay's head right now, not the least of which are the unknown financial ramifications of this tragic accident. The most immediate things that come to mind are the high deductible for Amy's and Zach's and Jordan's family insurance policy, for which they get hit twice in a short amount of time because of the way their insurance calendar falls; the high deductible for Jay's insurance; the out-of-pocket medical expenses above and beyond what insurance covers; and the costs of travel for the McClure and Kirch families while traveling back and forth from all over the country to Colorado Springs this week after the initial trauma, and this upcoming and subsequent weeks in Englewood (Denver area), where Craig Hospital, the rehab facility is located, as family involvement in Amy's and Zach's recoveries are a key component to their continued road to health and wellness, and the continued recovery of Jay and Jordan, as well.  The necessity of family involvement was emphasized by the professionals from Craig Hospital.

How have all of the family members already progressed since the accident?

Jordan is physically recovering well from her hip dislocation surgery.

Jay is still physically hurting from his back and heel injuries.  We're all also working to remind him to breathe and rest and eat, as he's still recovering from his own head injuries, and being mindful not to let his a-fib heart condition kick in from stress.

Zach is physically recovering from his head injuries and broken femur. We're happy he's going to get a spot at Craig Hospital....huge blessing for his projected two- to four-week inpatient recovery.

Amy is physically recovering from multiple strokes and a risky surgery to avoid a major stroke, a broken scapula, and broken ribs.  She has the need for the most long-term treatment, and, again, we're super blessed and happy she's going to Craig Hospital; her projected stay is six to eight weeks of inpatient therapy.

Jay, Amy, Zach, and Jordan are all responding with positive attitudes and beautiful humor.  That being written, they and all of us, their extended family and friends are all hit hard emotionally by what has happened.  We ask for your continued Love and Light and healing energy...please continue to focus on health (versus what happened or what is their current state of recovery); please continue to send energy and intention towards the vibrance, health, love, laughter, and bravery in all its physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual forms.

What happens next?

There are MANY unknowns for this courageous family.  We are all truly taking things one minute, one hour, one day at a time.  As we know more, we will update you.  Please feel free to contact me (Stacy) with any questions you have.
