Love and Healing for Lori Garman

Donation protected

In 2016, our dear friend Lori Garman received the harsh news that she tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation. This puts her at a high risk of developing breast, ovarian, and melanoma cancers compared to someone without this genetic mutation.

As recommended by her oncology doctors, Lori bravely chose to have surgery to reduce the most pressing risk of developing ovarian cancer in February 2017.

Sadly, Lori was hit again with more devastating news in January 2018, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. So now, after already enduring so much, she is now facing major surgery on February 19th, for a double mastectomy and reconstruction as advocated by her oncology team.

After her 14-Hour surgery, Lori faces many months of recovery with limited mobility, barring any complications. She will be unable to return to work, drive, attend to household duties or walk her dog Sparkle.

At some point in our lives, each of us has been affected by cancer – either through a personal battle or from helping a loved one with the disease. We’re sure you’re aware that besides the physical and emotional tolls, fighting cancer can be an enormous financial burden. Even with insurance, the loss of wages, increased medical expenses, co-pays, deductibles, home care, meals, and so much more are astronomical.

Everyone who knows Lori knows she has a huge heart and is a giving person by nature. So it's probably no surprise this disclosure is very difficult for her, as she is an independent and very private person. That is why we are asking, with her permission, for all of us – friends, family, coworkers and neighbors – to help support Lori in her battle with breast cancer.

Whether for well wishes, monetary gifts, prayer, and/or for sharing this page – whatever you can do – your generosity would truly be a blessing to Lori.

We thank from the bottom of our hearts!
