Love & Support for Kristian Rex

Donation protected
Thank you all for your incredible support these last few days. We are blown away by your stories, generosity, and love. Kristian passed away in his home yesterday evening, Sunday December 16th. He was very peaceful, and his family was at his side. We are planning a celebration of his life for this Saturday, December 22nd, from 2-5pm at Mcloone’s Pier House in Long Branch, NJ. Please see the photo I posted for details. If you would still like to contribute to this campaign, we will be using the funds for after-life services and family support. Any remaining funds will be donated to Holiday Express, Kristian’s favorite charity that he dedicated decades to through his music. Thank you all so very much. You are in his heart, and ours, forever.

In March of this year, our family received the devastating news that Kristian had been diagnosed with glioblastoma--an extremely aggressive, incurable form of brain cancer. We were terrified of what this meant, and what would come. But in the months afterward, despite the various, debilitating treatments, Kristian did what Kristian did best: he lived. He played a gig at Mcloone’s with his friends just one week after having brain surgery. In June, he walked his daughter down the aisle at Kalmar Village, his favorite place in the world. He spent the fourth of July trying to sneak into the parade in Catonsville before heading to Club Wentworth to swim and sun. He boated and golf carted his way around Peaks Island with his children in August. And in September, he married the love of his life in a beautiful ceremony in New Hope. He loved, laughed, ate, drank, smelled, kissed, dreamed, skipped, played, danced. He lived.

I don’t have to tell any of you this, because even if you met him for just a few minutes, you know that Kristian Rex is not a man: he is a way of life. To know him is to love him. And he told his friends and family how much he loved them every single day. He never wavered in his knowledge of the most important things. At Thanksgiving, he stood at the table and said grace with a message all too clear: “Be together, love one another, live. Because it all goes by too quickly.”

And after a life of giving so much, we ask that you help him today.

Sometime in the last two months, his brain tumor returned. And at his wishes, we are no longer pursuing treatment. While this is unbearable for us, we know that he does not want a continued life of sickness and pain. He wants us all to remember him as the man you know right now. The rockstar with the dreamy hair.

We are raising funds for continuous, at-home supportive care for Kristian, as well as for family support and services after-life. Any remaining funds will be donated to Holiday Express (https://holidayexpress.org/), a charity Kristian supported for decades through his music.

Thank you so much for your love and kindness in this impossible time. Please know that you are so absolutely loved by Kristian, and by his entire family.
