LOUISA CARY FUNDRAISER

Some of you may be aware that Fletcher our youngest child was struck down with sepsis in May 2017.  It was a horrific time for the whole family and we were close to losing him. The team at Torbay Hospital were amazing and fought to save his life. Fletcher bounced back and life returned to normal. In February this year Fletcher started displaying the same symptoms and we took him to hospital. Our worst fears were confirmed again when the doctors confirmed he was battling sepsis for a second time.  Fortunately this episode was not as bad as before but fletch had to have another week in and out of hospital receiving IV antibiotics. Again life returned to  normal.  However 2 weeks ago fletch had a temperature and we took him to hospital as a precaution.  After blood tests it was confirmed that fletch was again battling a severe infection and his body was fighting him rather than the infection.  I am happy to say that even with all the above fletch is back to his usual cheeky self.   However what has stood out on all these occasions is the amazing team of doctors and nurses on the Louisa Cary ward at Torbay Hospital. Their care and dedication has been above and beyond the level of  care you would hope to receive. The nurses deal with so many poorly children often having to deal with life or death cases and then  carry on with their job. I really feel that we need to give something  back to go some way towards showing them how grateful we are. I am going to be playing Christmas songs on my keyboard to the children on the ward at Christmas and would love to be able to give them some money towards decorating the wards or towards a recliner chair to enable parents to sleep next to their children.  Anything anyone can donate would be greatly appreciated.
