Yesterday, I went with my former employee/GM, Jose from Puerto Rico, to the hospital to sign the papers so that they could release his mothers body to him/funeral home. It wasn't even 4 weeks ago that Hurricane Maria swept thru PR and took his home, car, and all that he worked so hard for. On top of all this, his son, who is special needs, is sick and he had to pay $249 out of pocket for the medication. He just stared working and does not have insurance yet. As of 11/7, he had $78.59 in his account. He still has work this week and has to feed his 3 kids and wife! Together, we can help him fly his mother home for a proper funeral. My name is John Moore. I have had the pleasure of leading thousands of associates across the US in retail. Several years ago, I had a general manager who was apart of my team (his name is Jose). He was an outstanding employee. We kept in touch when I left the company. When Hurrican Maria swept thru Pueto Rico, over a month ago, I called to check on Jose and his family. He had lost everything. Their house was demolished (picture is all that was left of their home), car flooded, and the other family who lived with him had lost all they had as well. A few days after I spoke with him, I prayed and asked the Lord to give me guidance on how to help them.
After prayer, I felt led to help him by flying him and his family to Florida. They arrived about three weeks ago. I put them up in temporary housing for three months. I'm also assisting with their food and transportation. I also used some of my connections and we got him a job as an assistant general manager at a retail store.
On top of all that they have went thru already, this past Saturday 11/4, Jose walked in the room to check on his mother only to find out that she had passed away. She was only 61 years old. It appears that she died in her sleep. They would like to fly her body back to Puerto Rico and bury her next to her husband. All of their family resides there as well.
We need your help. Jose, his wife, their 3 children, and his mom, arrived to Florida with nothing but the clothes on their back. We are trying to raise money to fly her body back, have a funeral, and then fly them back here to Florida where they are trying to rebuild.
