Lost Creek's, Lost Pancreas!

Its the dead of winter. And while we should be looking forward to the quiet that comes with our "off season", this year has thrown more at us than we can manage, just 19 days in. The mountain is dead. And so is our sons pancreas. Maybe dead is too strong a word. Maybe, lazy or irresponsible or unreliable suits it better. Either way, its not pulling its weight. Of course we didnt know it had become a complete worthless couch potatoe until last weekend when we ended up in the ER. We thought Elijah was dehydrated from throwing up all night. We thought he ate a little too much sugar and it just wasn't sitting right. We thought.... Two hours later we had a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis and were sent via ambulance to the childrens hospital in Knoxville, with words being throw around like diabetic ketoacidosis and renal failure. We spent 24 hours in the ICU and another three days in the hospital getting his levels balanced and learning how not to kill our son. Our lives revolve around food and medicine right now, and calls to the doctors office, still trying to get his blood sugar to a safe range ( we are still in the 300- 400s most of the time). Both of our jobs have had to take a seat on the back burner until we can get him well and consistent enough. We could really use a little help to get through the next few months of the cabins being empty and our sales jobs having to take a temporary back seat. We are still working, we know that this is a temporary need, and that we will one day soon be adjusted to the new normal, but until then, please consider helping if you possibly can.
