LORIE LEE SEKAYUMPTEWA BENEFIT

Ya’a’t’eeh! Lolama!

The Committee for Supporting Lori Lee Sekayumptewa’s Medical and Health Fund is requesting your consideration and financial support in the amount of $10,000.00 to defray unexpected medical costs associated with her physical ailments and sustained disabilities.

“Lorie Lee”, known public media personality, is and has been a Native arts and humanities advocate for many years and especially during the 1990s and early 2000s when she was associated with the Navajo Nation Broadcast Services and 660 KTNN Radio station. Many of the KTNN listeners were entertained by her on-air personality for over 11 years with specialized produced shows such as “Navajo Nights, Annual Gathering of Nations Pow Wow LIVE, KTNN’s Drums of Summer, Native American Music Festival in Tsaile, Arizona which featured numerous Native American performing artists. She last had a successful career with the Nation Nation under the Office of Broadcast Services in which as Media Production Specialist, administered the Navajo Nation Radio Network (NNRN), Navajo Nation Television 5 (NNTV5) and Navajo Nation FILM OFFICE (NNFO).

In 2011, she unexpectedly fell ill with a condition that left her in severe pain and discomfort ultimately leaving her no choice but to resign from full-time employment that has led to her being unable to sufficiently provide for her family or herself. She was referred to outside medical specialists beyond the Navajo Nation and most of her treatment has been neglected, not being properly provided and denied continuation of eternal provider services and coverage, therefore, leaving her, like many Navajo people in such conditions, to either fall into greater debt or surrender to the ailment they are fighting. Rather than just watch and see her suffer, both physically, emotionally, and financially, her family and close supportive friends have organized a benefit concert to raise funds for her to help her pay for costs associated for her treatments & surgeries she is advocating to proceed with as well as for to help her pay her bills, including purchasing food to meet her basic human needs. The donated funds will cover expenditures such as transportation to and from medical services locally, regionally such as Flagstaff, Phoenix. We are reaching out to you to make a financial donation to this cause.

On May 12 and 13 (2018), two Benefit Concert sessions to support Lorie Lee Sekayumptewa will be held at the Goen Cinema in Window Rock, Arizona from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.

We are respectfully request your sincere consideration and financial contribution to this important humanitarian effort to help Lorie Lee and her family.

Sincerely,
James Bilagody, Co-Chairman
