Lorena Perkins and Family

Updated Tuesday March 13th... Sadly Lorena passed away Wednesday March 7th in the 7pm hour, surrounded by her loved ones. Her funeral will take place at 10am this Saturday March 17th at The Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors 1104 South Circle Drive Colorado Springs CO 80910, wake to follow in a separate location, more info to follow. GoFundMe funds will help with funeral costs and with transitions the children will need over the next few months. Lorena Perkins is a mother of 4 going through cancer treatments in Texas. She lives in Colorado where her children attend a Charter School, she travels often so she didn't have to uproot the children and change their routine. Those costs and stressors not only affect her and the kids they also affect her husband, mother, ex husband, and other helpful family members. Sometimes the cancer facility provides her a hotel room, sometimes she stays with family an hour away. She is dependant on family and friends in TX for rides to her appointments since she doesn't have an automobile there. I know there are many families that love this family and would love to support them in whatever way possible. Funds raised will go toward travel expenses, medical bills, and to help the costs of the children with whatever may come up....a few months into Lorenas battle with cancer she was blessed with another baby girl....this was a huge shock to the doctors and to Lorena...what a miracle child! Since she got some treatments when the doctors weren't aware of her in utero the baby has some development issues in particular with her hearing. They are seeking treatments for her as well. Lorena hasn't really shared her story with many people, she is now ready to do that and I am happy to help ease her financial stressors through this go fund me page. In December 2014 a routine dental check lead her to strange pain and numbness that remained through January. This then lead her through a number of referals and tests over the next 9 months. She has had several diagnosis and the last word is she has terminal cancer in her bones, specifically her skull, osteo sarcoma. In the last few years she has had continuous headaches, extreme fatigue, nerve damage, several biopsies, several rounds of chemo, and monthly blood transfusions.  The three oldest children are students at the US Taekwondo Center. Transportation to and from class has been extreemly difficult.
