Send LONG STORY to Nashville!

OUR STORY:

Ours truly is a “Long Story”…here’s the short version: Met in high school; started playing music together; dated for 10 years; broke up; stayed best of friends; kept playing music...think Jerry & Elaine from Seinfeld – minus the music - and you get the idea. (Read the full story at the bottom)

LONG STORY - 2016

Along the way, life definitely threw us some curves, but we’ve always had each other’s back through it all.  The most challenging chapter began about two years ago, when Faith was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis).  Within a matter of only a few months, Faith went from fully functioning to not being able to walk, or even dress and feed herself.

2014...a tough year! Clockwise from left: Faith's mom feeding her while drying her hair; hour 2 of 4-hour blood transfusion; taking new wheelchair for a spin for the first time (and still keeping a great attitude about it...)

After two failed treatments, Faith is finally on a medication which has slowed the progression of her disease, but it's a "limited time offer"...this treatment is only good for 2 short years, at which point the medication can cause an infection in her brain that is life-threatening.  After that, it'll be back to looking at different treatment options, none of which hold the promise of being anywhere near as effective...

We're making the time count by putting everything into our shared passion: MUSIC!

OUR GOAL:

First, let us clarify what we DON’T want to do: we do not want to be “rockstars”…we don’t want to record a demo in order to land a recording contract, and we don’t want to tour & play shows 250 days of the year to promote an album we’ve released.  Even in relatively good health, this is not something which Faith can manage, as the cumulative effects of her MS have already drained her energy…while we will continue to perform live on occasion, the gruelling grind of a touring musician is not a possibility for us.

What we DO want is to write songs for artists who are already doing all of that…simply put, we want to be SONGWRITERS (with an eye to landing a publishing contract in Nashville).  In addition to our passion for creating music, songwriting is something which Faith can continue to do even as her condition progresses.

After years of writing music - much of it inspired by the ups and downs of living with Faith's condition - we have over a dozen songs waiting to be shared with the world.   We already have serious interest in one of our songs ("Lift Me Up") from a top Nashville producer & filmmaker for inclusion on an upcoming movie soundtrack; we want to build on this opportunity and use it as a stepping stone to present our other songs to labels in Nashville and throughout North America.

To do this, we need to record polished studio-quality versions of each of our songs, and then to present them in Nashville early in 2017...and we need your help to do it!  We're looking to raise a minimum of $7,500, which will allow us to:

1) CREATE A HOME STUDIO & RECORD: $2,500.00

While we LOVED recording in Nashville this past summer, the truth was that it was extraordinarily taxing on Faith...between the travel, the heat, and the long hours in studio, her MS symptoms flared up, and we had to cut the trip short.  The reality of her condition, with its ups and downs, is  that scheduling time in a studio -and then expecting Faith perform at her best - is nearly impossible.  We've realized that what we need is to have the ability to record whenever and wherever Faith's health will allow.  We've done our homework, and have found some very affordable - yet very high quality - options to allow us to do make this happen:

-Zoom R24 Interface / Recorder - $750.00
-Zoom Q8 Video Recorder - $550.00
     (SO cool...check it out: https://youtu.be/ylsvOQyg6Io)
-Hire musicians (where required) to contribute to  recordings  - $500.00
-Rent equipment/instruments  - $500.00
-Misc equipment/accessories - $200.00

2) COPYRIGHTING (and other legalities): $1,000.00

The less glorious part of creating music, but so crucial!  We're so blessed to already have an amazing entertainment lawyer from Atlanta, GA on our side, looking out for our best interests on this front, including:

-Registering copyrights for each song, both in Canada  and the US (both immediately and ongoing)
-Registering band as a legal entity in both Canada and    the US, as well as trademarks on our logo, name,  etc.
-Joining an Industry PRO (Publishing Royalties  Organization), which will collect payment for our songs  once they are performed.

3) TRAVEL: $2,500.00

The best way to pitch to Nashville is to be in Nashville!  We've chosen what we feel is one of the best venues to meet industry insiders and to introduce ourselves and our music...the annual Country Radio Seminars (CRS)

4) MARKETING:  $1,000.00

Once we're in Nashville with our finished songs, it's time to pitch them, and we want to make a great impression using:

-100 USBs (loaded with our songs and videos)
-Business Cards, Bio Sheets, and CDs
-Follow-up mailers
