Lombok Earthquake Appeal

As you have all heard, Lombok has been hit by several devastating earthquakes. Our friend Pak Endang, whose village, Selat, was destroyed by the earthquakes, has been driving supplies to some of the worst effected villages in the north.

We are collecting donations to support this direct aid effort. 

On Saturday (11/8) we drove up the west coast of Lombok to Gangga in the north. Every village we passed was completely destroyed. Tens of thousands of people are homeless. The Indonesian government have been slow to respond and have refused international assistance. Consequently, hundreds of individuals from across Lombok are driving supplies to their friends and relatives in the north. We travelled with our friend Pak Endang. 

We delivered items to two villages in the Gangga area; Kampung Coklat and Sansambik. From these central locations the supplies were distributed to posts further inland. 

So far we have spent Rp14,803,000 ($1400) on emergency supplies and transport costs. I have included a copy of all receipts in the updates section. No receipts were available for transport or petrol over two days (Rp850,000).

3 x tarpaulins (10x10m)
3 boxes nappies size M & L
2 boxes sanitary pads
50 pairs underwear men's & womens
1 box soap
20 torches with batteries
40 blankets
20 small buckets
20 medium buckets
20 sacks of rice
180 litres drinking water
10 boxes noodles
215 eggs
10 boxes panadol
12 bottles traditional tea tree based medicine
20 bags of cooking oil
20 x 1/2kg bags of sugar
20 packets of coffee

Before we spend any more of your donation money we will assess where it is needed most. Sanitation and access to water and shelter, are the primary concern. The rainy season starts next month. Thousands of people are without proper shelter. Lombok has run out of tarps and tents. People do not have access to drinking water. 

There is still much to be done.
