Loki’s Hip Replacement

Donation protected
UPDATE ON LOKI 2/5/19:
As of a few weeks ago, after seeing MULTIPLE specialist and taking MANY X-Rays we have now found out that Loki was born with a severe version of hip dysplasia. This is not the result we were hoping for but at least nobody hurt our baby. We have compared x-rays from when we first noticed something was wrong until know and it has showed that his right hip is almost 100% flat now and his left hip is flattening very quickly. He is now on many pain medications and can barely walk without them.  This is going to be a much harder few months as the orthopedic surgeons believe Loki might possibly have to go through TWO hip replacements at the young age of one year old. This is going to double to cost, double the time, double the physical therapy, and double the time off from work we will have to take to travel to Houston since no surgeon can preform the surgery here in Louisiana. Loki has good days and bad days but the good days are very seldom and the bad days turn into bad nights, not eating and crying for hours (yes, he actually cry and it breaks my heart knowing he's in pain). We are hoping to get the surgery in March if we can get the money together by then! Thank you all again for sharing , liking and donating. Loki owes every one of you a hug and some of his famous cuddles too.

Hello everyone,
My 10 month old German Shepherd/Husky mix, Loki, will unfortunately have to have a hip replacement very soon. I got Loki in August and he has been the most playful, kind, loving puppy that i have ever experienced. After losing my previous dog to  lymphoma in July, I was in need of another companion. That’s where Loki came in. I started to notice that Loki was lipping around and getting hurt at the dog park(which is his favorite place to be)  quite often. I knew something was wrong so I immediately made a doctors appointment thinking that it was hip  dysplasia. After getting a full body X-ray at the vet I was told that Loki had a dislocated right back leg. My  veterinarian told me that it happened when Loki was around 3 months old, long before we got him and nothing was ever done about it. Because it has been dislocated for so long and he was so young, his hip and pelvic area has started to grow around the dislocated leg. This is causing him to barley be able to walk on his right back leg now. Our veterinarian sent the xrays to the surgeon. A surgery that I thought would be a simple fix is actually a lot more complicated and unfortunately my 10 month old baby will be having to have a total hip replacement, which is going to be roughly right under $10,000. Loki will then have to go through 6-8 weeks of recovery and physical therapy which is not including in that large price tag. There are no surgeons in the New Orleans area that offer long period financing for this surgery. I was also told that if we don’t get the surgery done before the end of the year, my baby will not be able to walk on that leg anymore which will cause further issues and even amputation. Please help me give my baby the surgery he needs. Even if you can’t donate just a simple “share” would be appreciated more than you ever know. Loki will be forever grateful for anyway you can help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for helping Loki be able to walk, run, jump and play for the rest of his life.
