Local Firefighter Rescues His Own Family from Fire
Donation protected
Imagine being a Firefighter on duty and receiving a 911 call to a house fire that takes you to your own home. This is exactly what 18 year HFD veteran Alika Naluai was confronted with at around 1:00am early Monday morning. Rushing into his home without pause, he was unaware that his wife and four daughters were all out of the home and safe. Tragically, Alika and the other brave firefighters were unable to save his home. Everything they owned was completely destroyed by fire and smoke. His wife and four daughters left their home with only the clothes on their backs.
My heart goes out to this sweet family who are just grateful to be together. They are staying with Friends for now but, have to start from scratch with clothing, shoes, school supplies and all the essentials for themselves and their daughters ages 18, 13, 12 and 10.
Finally, I feel a need to raise an awareness that this Husband, Father and Firefighter has rushed to the aide of his community and risked his life to serve others for 18 years. It was so sad to hear him say “ I feel like a refugee”....
We should rise up to show support and appreciation to this first responder and his family. This is an opportunity to let Alika and his family know that although they may feel like refugees, his community has their back! Please help by donating.
