Lizzie's Surgical Recovery

Donation protected

For those of you who know Elizabeth, you know how strong and how stubborn she is. When she called me and said, "Sisa, I don't know what I'm going to do." I could hear the pain in her voice. My incredible sister, who hates asking for help, desperately needs some.

When she was 15, she had surgery to correct scoliosis in her back. They used cadaver bones, titanium rods, and multiple screws to rebuild her skeletal structure. She went on to marry, and have 2 beautiful babies boys and a pretty amazing bonus son.

When David was born a year ago, Lizzie had to have an emergency cesarean. Because of the rods, they had to do a non-traditional incision; both vertical and horizontal. Since this, her back has gone from bad to worse.

She has to have all the rods and screws replaced. Surgery is set for March 27, 2017. She will be in surgery for 8 hours, in the hospital for at least one week (last time it was 3), and then has a long 3-4 month recovery period with sever restrictions.

Not only do they have very little time to plan, but they have a very limited income and little help with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Durring her recovery, Liz will not be able to do simple housework, let alone pick up and care for her babies while Tony is at work and D is at school. She NEEDS to have an in-home child care provider - $250 + per week.

I'm hoping that if we can all pitch in just a little bit, we can help them with travel and childcare expenses so this amazing momma can heal and live a long, full, healthy life to take care of her boys.
