Liver, Laugh, Love ~Beth's Journey to Health

Hi, my tribe..
This is a tough letter for me to write, but I wanted to let everyone know what's been going on with me.

For many years now I have battled liver disease, and I fought with everything I had. But it's time to start a new journey. I have been accepted by OHSU's transplant team for a liver transplant. There's no way to know how soon this will happen but my best guess is it won't be too long.

I have to live in Portland for up to 3 months after the transplant. Not knowing when exactly makes planning difficult. Generally 108 days on the list until transplant, 10 days in the hospital and 3 months living less than a hour from Portland. There are many variables.
Stephanie Morris and Jen Waite are my Medical support team, which is a requirement by the transplant team. I am forever indebted to them. I couldn’t do this without them and all of you.

There are lots of challenges in front of me, some I can handle, some I can't without the support of my tribe.
Some of the stuff I can figure out as I go along, but figuring out care for my dogs, medical bills, transportation, utilities  and rent in two places as well as all the unexpected costs is daunting and overwhelming.
My savings and rainy day money was pretty wiped out by my husband John’s illness (Alzheimer’s).
Never the less, I am very grateful for this chance to live ...to go hiking, to play agility again..and to be present in my own life.

I am working on setting up a FB page for keeping everyone up to date,  with a gofundme  account. Making it easier for those who would like to donate financially.  Without help I don’t see how this transplant can happen.
The transplant team was pretty clear that the money was going to be needed before hand.

Steph and Jen will be helping keep it and me organized...lol.
