About us!

Michael and Maegan have known each other since the age of 4 and became best friends immediately. At the age of 9 they were separated. After 9 years apart they were reunited via Facebook. At 18yro they began their courtship. During this time, Maegan completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and became a Registered Dietitian. Michael worked hard, switching jobs in order to be near Maegan.

After 5 years of dating, Michael and Maegan got married in 2013 and paid for the wedding themselves. The Fall of 2013, Michael returned to college to finish his undergraduate degree. The newlyweds started "Financial Peace University" and for the first time, began to understand how to budget and prioritize money properly. At 24 years old, they went on to pay off ~$18, 500 in debt in order to free up their finances to travel!

They stepped out of the 21st century and made sacrifices most 20-somethings wouldn't dream of. They switched from smartphones to flip phones, got rid of cable, stopped their internet, and sold Michael's beloved truck to become a 1-car family. They sold anything they thought would bring in cash to pay down their debt!

Presently, Michael is a college graduate and full time server and Maegan is digging in to her online work.

Their life abroad will begin May of 2018.

Meet Maui & Dexter. Our spaniel loves.

We cannot leave these sweet faces behind! There are many expenses ahead for these two: vaccinations, heartworm meds, food, and plane rides. Donate today to help us bring these angels with us!

To our family and friends:

This may have come as a surprise to you, but knowing us, it probably didn't. You know where our hearts are and how dedicated we are to experiencing all that this world has to offer. We've been working relentlessly for nearly a decade, barely seeing each other much of the time. Eventually you reach a point where it's time for a sabbatical from corporate USA and the ideals that society places on young adults. We have reached that point.  Please think about supporting us! We love you all!

There is no greater education than travel itself. Travel is the ultimate hands-on experience and lacks bias to the observer.

We thank you all for your donations be it monetary, prayers, or good energy! $1 changes everything! Think of it as buying us a cup of coffee, but in a different country!

"He did not think of himself as a tourist; he was a traveler. The difference is partly one of time, he would explain. Whereas the tourist generally hurries back home at the end of a few weeks or months, the traveler, belonging no more to one place than to the next, moves slowly, over periods of years, from one part of the earth to the other."- Paul Bowles, The Sheltering Sky (1949)
