On February 17th, Alex Jr. (Juni) was rushed to Hinsdale Hospital complaining of leg pains, and had red dots and bruising all over his body. The doctors thought it was fever blisters and growing pains. A simple blood test showed that his red blood cell count and platelet count were extremely low and he was to be transferred to Ann and Robert H. Lurie children's hospital of Chicago.
It was there that his parents Lisette and Alex received the most devastating news a parent can hear: "Your child has cancer of the blood, Leukemia". He is 3 years old.
Over the course of the past week, Juni has received 5 blood transfusions, 3 platelet transfusions and had begun Chemo therapy.
Juni's sister Gianna, who is 5, has also been affected by this tragedy and has begun to show signs of depression.
Although both Juni's parents work, they do not get paid time off or vacation pay to be with their son.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
