Little Moe's Gimpy Leg

Donation protected
Little Moe was found injured outside of an office building on 2/24/19.

Knowing nothing about birds at all, we scooped him up and got him to the emergency vet where they did a brief exam on him, gave him an anti-inflammatory shot and got him hydrated. The idea was to get him to a safe place and hope that he recovers on his own without additional interventions. Heck, I didn't know you could sedate/xray/cast a little bird. What a world.

We bought the items recommended by the vet, including a small aquarium where he is relegated to the ground floor to avoid additional injuries.

He gained a bit of strength in the first 24 hours, but since then he's still unable to fly or put weight on his left leg. He tends to fall over if he falls asleep without placing his weight against another object, like so:

We spoke with the local Avian Conservation Center, and the exotic animal clinic, and both have recommended that he be sedated and examined more thoroughly since he has not improved much in the last 48 hours. He will be put under tomorrow at 3pm for his first little procedure. The hope is they will be able to get what is needed done without xrays, but that is a fluid situation at this point.

We and Little Moe greatly appreciate your time, and any donations will be put directly towards helping this little fella get back on his feet and in the air.

Below are a couple of videos of Moe in action.
