Little Lila's Road Ahead

Donation protected
Lila Maeve.

Our sweet, but strong little cousin, Lila is currently in the ICU at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is fighting her hardest fight to recover from an unexpected medical emergency.

What happened?

The Timeline
On Tuesday, March 19th, Lila woke up from her nap at her Grammie’s house like she normally does and soon after lost consciousness. She was taken via ambulance to UMASS Hospital in Worcester where she was admitted. Her next set of symptoms were a mystery until the results of a CT scan on Friday, March 22, at which point we received the devastating news that Lila had a brain aneurysm. After her MRI the following day, it was decided to get Lila to Boston Children’s Hospital via a med flight.

Since Saturday, March 23, Lila has faced several challenges: more tests and scans determined a ventriculostomy drain was placed in the left side of her head to relieve pressure due to inflammation of vessels and drain some fluid off. Lila was sedated and intubated for many days to allow her brain to rest and hope that healing could begin. Several MRI’s showed no changes, which was both good and bad. We obviously are happy that nothing else is going wrong, but really are praying for some positive change with the inflammation.

The Latest
At this point, the doctors still don’t have answers. The doctors have run every test to try and find a possible answer as to WHY this is happening. Their current plan of action is to give steroids in hopes to reduce the inflammation. Lila was extubated and taken off her sedation medications this weekend. She is stable and still fighting her fight. Her next MRI is scheduled for Monday, April 1. Let’s all pray she is making the improvements the doctors hope to see!

Lila is a strong and brave little girl. Just shy of her 3rd birthday (April 13th), she has experienced so much hardship yet lived such a beautiful and abundant life thus far. Lila has a long road ahead and there are still many unknowns. Her loving and dedicated parents, Courtney and Mike, have not left her side since March 19th, leaving them both out of work.  Lastly, we can’t forget about Lila’s two brothers, Logan (5 years old) and Keagan (6 months old) who are at home in their Grammie’s care.

Let’s join together to help Lila and her family remain focused on her progress towards good health and not have any financial worries! Thank you in advance for all your support.
