Ellie Mae is 2.5 years old and in need of help. She suffers daily from chronic pain. Watch video 1 (below) to see her daily pooping routine.
Ellie Mae is a recent rescue from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. The shelter did not tell me when I was adopting her, that she was having pains during bowel movements. It is possible that they did not notice, as she was only there for about 3 days, and animals behave different under stress. We made several appointments at the Palm Springs VCA, conducted preliminary tests and experimented with dewormers and other medications to try to determine the cause of this, and stop her pain. Unfortunately, all attempts at this problem have given us no leads on the cause and sadly has not minimized her pain and discomfort. Some signs suggest that this may be chronic pain caused by ulcerative colitis, but we are still unsure.
Her vet has asked for a package of examinations including a blood test and an x-ray, to further investigate her condition, and possibly refer me to a specialist to perform a colonoscopy. The package alone costs a little over $500, I am starting by asking for this amount, until further notice of costs for the colonoscopy or other medical needs thereafter. All donations will be used for these tests, and medications that she may need to overcome these exams and any other procedures. I hope I can have your support and help as I truly need it. I don’t want to see her hurting every day, it breaks my heart.
