Literary Apothecary: Books Needed!

Hi Everyone!
My name is Elise Hadden, and I'm a writer, blogger, and reader currently living in Grinnell, IA. I run the blog Under the Heather Books (www.undertheheatherbooks.com), where I post book reviews of (usually) contemporary fiction by women and authors of color.
I am trying to set up an additional service in my blog where I can use my extensive knowledge of books and reading to provide people with intensely personalized book recommendations, acting as a kind of "literary apothecary."
Building on the idea presented in the book "The Novel Cure: An A-Z of Literary Remedies" by Susan Elderkin and Ella Berthoud, I want to give people the opportunity to describe their lives, their histories, their desires and their fears so that I can find them the perfect book for their situation. Rather than just getting a generic recommendation based on genre and subject matter, like one would find on Goodreads or Amazon, I can provide people with individualized recommendations that fit the circumstances of their lives so they can continue to enrich their lives through books.
Simple, right? You fill out a form about your life, and I send you a book that fits you like a glove. Doesn't get much better than that!
However, to get started with this service (which I would like to offer free of charge at first, so that I can get the hang of it and get feedback) I need to have a personal library of books to send to my clients--that's where you come in :)
Any money you donate toward this campaign will go toward the purchase of new and used books from local, independent bookstores in the Des Moines area. I will also purchase used books from the Drake Community Library Friends Bookshop here in Grinnell, so in addition to supporting me and my readers, you'll also be supporting this fantastic library!
Some of the money will also used for shipping costs for those who don't live near me.
I don't want to start offering this service until I have the funds to provide people with the books they need, so please consider donating today so I can get started as soon as possible.
I have been through many challenging times in my life, and without fail I have always found that reading the right book at the right time can completely change my life perspective. Literature of all kinds has the power to transform lives and help us get in touch with who we are, and I want desperately to use my knowledge of books to help others find meaning.
