Lisa's Fight

Donation protected
Lisa is the most selfless person anyone could meet. She always goes the extra mile for someone without hesitation and is always willing to help. She is happily married to Mark Jordan and is a very proud momma to the sweetest little boy Blake. During the past few months life has not been kind to Lisa. She had to be air lifted to Mount Sinai Hospital at the beginning of August for an aneurysm which almost took her life. Thankfully after receiving 5 units of blood, having surgery and going home life was looking up for her and her family. During her time "off" Lisa went to have a mammogram as she had found a lump in her right breast, quite a large one at that. So after waiting what seemed like forever she got the call that the lump was "just cystic" but just to make sure she would be referred to the breast clinic. During her 2nd mammogram in 2 weeks the breast clinic discovered a small lump in her left breast,  a lump she didn't even know existed and again the large lump was just cystic. A biopsy was only done on the small lump and she had to wait once again.  She received the call to go to her doctor's office to get her results and she was told that she had breast cancer. Such a devastating thing to hear!! Lisa met with the Oncologist in Toronto at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was told she had Invasive Ductile Cancer in her left breast. The treatment plan was going to be a double mastectomy followed by 5 years of hormone therapy. So shocking to hear and a hard pill to swallow but after a few days of letting it sink in she was ready to fight. While at Sunnybrook they biopsied the "just cystic" lump in her right breast as the oncologist was concerned.  This week (Sept 5/18) Lisa's biopsy results revealed this "cystic" lump is called Triple Negative Cancer and it is very aggressive.  Lisa is to start her aggressive chemotherapy in the next upcoming weeks and once her chemo is finished she will undergo surgery for a double mastectomy. Recovery is approximately 6-8 weeks and once she is healed she will undergo reconstructive surgery. All of this awful news has been heartbreaking to the family and loved ones. Trips every other day to Toronto are costly with gas and parking alone. I, myself, just went through my mother having cancer last year and I know how quickly the costs add up. Lisa would never ask anything, which is why I am doing it on her behalf. I am reaching out to all of you that know her, are blessed to have her as part of your world, and to those that don't know her...she is an incredible woman, she's a fighter and I know she will fight but I would love to help take a wee bit of the stress off of her and her family during this difficult time. For those of you who would love to donate but are financially not in the position to do so I will ask this of you...please donate to your local blood bank. It can save a loved one's life just like it saved Lisa's life.
