Lisa Hensel has always been a warrior facing many adversities throughout her life. A mother of two, she has done the best to provide during hard times. Last year she battled breast cancer. She was brave during surgery and radiation, which had higher risks due to other health concerns. She was adjusting back to a normal routine, when we got a devastating diagnoses earlier this year. A new cancer.
A Glioblastoma is a very aggressive terminal brain tumor. The cancer cells dig their way into the brain and cannot completely be irradiated with current treatment options. She pulled through a 6 hour surgery to remove most of the tumor, and is currently undergoing chemo and radiation to, "clean up" as best they can. The prognosis with Glioblastoma, like many cancers, does not have a happy ending.
Unfortunately with side effects from the surgery and treatments, she has some neurological symptoms that limit her ability to do day to day tasks. I have moved back home to help with the 24 hour care she needs. I am unable to work at this time, and funds are running short. Donations will help cover treatment costs, in home nursing, as well as upgrades made to the house that made it more handicap accessible. Contributions will also help fund one last amazing trip once she is in a place she can travel again.
I admire her spirit and will to fight throughout her journey. I certainly know where I get my strength from. I appreciate everyone's continued support for both of us during such a difficult time. I am eternally grateful for all of the love and support we have received. Every penny will help, and not be wasted.
