Change Andrew's Life!

Why I'm Raising Money for Andrew
Hello, I'm Lisa Ashley, Andrew's friend (and chaplain) and I'm doing a GoFundMe to raise legal fees for him.

Andrew is 25 and was wrongfully convicted in 2011 at the age of 16 and received a sentence of 35 years for crimes he did not commit. I have been supporting and visiting Andrew in prison since I first met him in the Juvenile Detention Center 8 years ago. During this time we have become friends.

Andrew's mother and family are trying to raise money to hire a private attorney to prepare the documents and argue his case to the Court under the Supreme Court of the United States' ruling from 2012. This ruling says that all juveniles with long or life sentences shall have their cases reviewed.

His attorney will NOT be trying to prove his innocence, but will instead, be asking the Court for a reduction in Andrew's sentence, based on his childhood, his good behavior, the science behind the development of the juvenile brain that informed the SCOTUS ruling, and the facts of his case.

Andrew has recently earned his minimum security status and is now enrolled in two classes with Peninsula Community College in the Clallam Bay Corrections Center in an effort to begin preparing for life outside prison.

Some of you know that I have known Andrew  for 8+ years. He is kind and caring and is devoted to his family. He has worked hard to earn his minimum security status and wants to be reunited with his family.
Andrew, his mom and nephew, Little Andrew.

I was Andrew's only visitor for 6 years. His mother is finally able to visit him too, although she is on extremely limited income. Traveling to the prison is a hardship for her. Andrew is smart, loves sports and is interested in news and politics, and anything I share about life on the outside when I visit. It is very hard to see this young man's life being wasted.

The Costs
Andrew's case is expected to cost $14,000 in legal fees. His mother has managed to raise $2600 at this time. All money raised with this GoFundMe will go to his attorney to pay the costs of his case. I am supporting Andrew's mother and family, and Andrew, by creating this GoFundMe.

There is an urgency for his case as there are time bars within the law for the review and Andrew's case is getting close to those time constraints.

How You Can Help
You can help by donating to Andrew's legal fund through this campaign. Any amount will be greatly appreciated!

You can also help by forwarding this to your network of friends, via email or on your own Facebook timeline, with a note of support for Andrew.

You can make a very real difference in Andrew's life with your kindness and generosity. You can help Andrew be reunited with his family before more years of his life are wasted.

I will be extremely grateful if you can give to this effort to raise the fees needed to mount his case. I have watched Andrew grow and mature and have come to know the good person he is. His case has been heartbreaking for his family and for me. If we can help him return home we will all be making a contribution to justice and will be acting with love towards another and bringing joy to many who love him, as well as to Andrew. Any amount will help!

If I can answer any questions please feel free to contact me. I will keep this GoFundMe updated so you can see how we are doing to help change Andrew's life. Thank you!!
