To those who may not have heard the news, my dear aunt and best friend Lillian Mwangi passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 in the ICU at Boston Medical Center.
Lillian had visited the United States to attend my graduation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst on May 11, 2018. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. She underwent radiation and 2 cycles of chemotherapy at Boston Medical Center. During this difficult time, Lillian’s bravery filled us with hope for recovery. Unfortunately, after her last chemotherapy session, Lillian fell critically ill and was admitted to the ICU. Three weeks later, she passed away due to kidney failure.
We have already had numerous emails, texts and messages from people asking how to help, so here it is! Currently, she is still in the United States and needs to be flown back to Kenya to her final resting place. The funeral home and transportation fees have created a huge financial strain and I am certain we can all do something to help.
