Life Vest for Jerry

Donation protected
We are the concerned family and friends of Jerry Catbagan; security supervisor at Marin General Hospital. He is a father, new grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend to many, and is widely known and loved for his unconventional sense of humor.

Jerry was diagnosed in early May 2016 with congestive heart failure. Although the swelling in most of his body has gone down, he still has an enlarged heart that poses a severe threat to his life.  The doctors informed us that he requires supervision at all times, however; unfortunately due to circumstances that isn't always possible.

For this reason, he is in need of a Life Vest Wearable Defibrillator. Unlike an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), the Life Vest is worn outside the body rather than implanted in the chest. This device continuously monitors the heart with dry, non-adhesive sensing electrodes to detect life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms. If a life-threatening rhythm is detected, the device alerts the patient prior to delivering a treatment shock, and thus allows a conscious patient to delay the treatment shock. If the patient becomes unconscious, the device releases a blue gel over the therapy electrodes and delivers an electrical shock to restore normal rhythm.

We created this account with high hopes to raise enough money so that Jerry can afford to buy this needed Life Vest Wearable Defibrillator ‌that could save his life in an emergency. Therefore, any and all help is sincerely appreciated by Jerry, as well as all of his family and friends who care for him so much.
