Life-Saving Kidney Donation for my Sister

Hi, my name is Janeen. My sister, Rachel Brooks, has had chronic kidney disease since she was a little kid.  For most of her life she has been relatively okay compared to others, but after a bad case of the flu her kidneys started to decline more rapidly and she was placed on the donor list in Fall of 2018. 

As soon as she told me her doctor put her on the list, I volunteered to be tested. The irony here is that I would give her a whole kidney without a second thought, but my food is off limits. I was an only child for nine years before she came along so sharing was never really my thing. 

So anyways, I went through a rigorous amount of testing and learned that I am a perfect match! How amazing is that? Our surgery is this month and I am looking forward to helping my sister live her very best life. 

Rachel works full time and has healthcare to help with a lot of the medical bills, but there are still out-of-pocket surgery costs, co-pays, and medications that she will need for the rest of her life.
