Hi I’m Kanoa and I’m lucky to be alive. I hope you’ll read my story and help save other dogs like me.
For the first part of my life, I lived outside in brutal weather conditions. Unlike shelters in the US with covering and protection from the weather, big dogs in Korea are tethered outside. My friends at EFL took me into their shelter, however I still have limited chance for adoption in Korea, due to my size. Only because of their outreach to rescues like SCLRR, do I and others have an opportunity at a better life.
But now, thanks to SCLRR and EFL (Empathy for Life) I found a loving home here in America. The truth is I'm spoiled rotten and I'm loving every minute of it! See for yourself the pictures showing my new fabulous life.
That's why every year, SCLRR tries to save at 3-4 dogs from death row at my shelter, but the cost of transportation is very high.
Each dog’s passage is $500-800. So, we need your help to save more furry lives. Now, I don't want you to worry, it’s SCLRR’s top priority to save dogs from local shelters in Southern California. No dogs from Korea will take the space or resources that would be used for a local dog.
The truth is that most local shelters will not allow rescues to pull young dogs as they prefer to adopt them directly to the public. My friends at SCLRR understand this policy and they enjoy working with local shelters to save older and more medically fragile dogs. But, by bringing more dogs from Korea (age from puppy to max 2 years old) they also can offer younger dogs to our potential adopters.
Every little donation helps. So, go ahead… look at my handsome face and think about the other dogs just like me who deserve a warm bed, a yard to run around in, and wonderful owners to love and adore.
