Mission Trip to Liberia, West Africa

Donation protected
Throughout my life I've never really gone without. I have always been blessed and I realize how fortunate I am.  With this in mind, I also know that there are many out there that aren't as fortunate as I am.  I've always wanted to travel abroad and help others who see more need daily than I will ever experience. Next January, I have such an opportunity.

I currently attend St. James United Methodist Church in Danville, IL. I have the opportunity I've been looking for to serve during a mission trip to Liberia in January of 2015. Our group from St. James United Methodist Church will be there for a total of two weeks. During that time we will help rebuild and repair Bishop Judith Craig's Children's Village and St. Paul's UMC. We will also be helping out at the West Point School as well.  After informing our leader at the UMC Illinois Great Rver Conference that I work in a hopital lab, I may have the opportunity to help with patients and testing if we get a chance to visit the Ganta mission!  This is not only an opportunity to do good, but to see what real faith in God looks like from people who will see more need than I ever will, and to also put in perspective the life that I live. The opportunity to give up my daily routine to go and serve others would be an absolute blessing!

Of course, a trip like this isn't free.  I am the only source of income for our family of four.  We never go without in our home, but at the same time we don't have a lot of extra money laying around. I'm asking for help so I can sacrifice my time from my normal life and family in order to experience not only the needs of others, but to be able to feel the joy of filling those needs.

The trip cost is $3700 plus vaccinations, which are almost paid for thanks to my first two days!  To raise this I am applying for a scholarship to cover half of the $3700. Along with donations made personally to me (which will be updated here as well) I am asking for 100 people to donate $20.  If you want to give more or less it would be just as appreciated.  The first $500 deposit is due July 31, with $1600 due August 15th and $1600 due September 15th.  I know with your help I can experience this life-changing opportunity to humbly serve abroad. Thanks and God Bless!
