Liam's Medical Journey

Hello there, my name is Casandra and I am the blessed mother of a wonderful 9 year old boy.  Here is some of Liam's medical story.  Liam was diagnosed with Hypochondroplasia (milder form of dwarfism) at the age of 4.  With that diagnosis we were told about possible spinal stenosis and other things that come along with hypo but the doctors stated if these things occurred it would happen much later in life.  That wasn't the case for Liam.  Roughly 2 years ago we noticed Liam walking around hunched over, getting up from a seated position very stiff, complaining of back pain, crying and holding his legs saying it felt like he was being stabbed.  We endure many nights on heating pads and over the counter pain meds.  Last year after many tests, scans, and doctor appointments in Marshfield and Madison it was confirmed that Liam has spinal stenosis with 3 bulging disks in his low back causing his back pain and leg pain as the disks are pushing on his nerves along with the discovery he had extra ribs on his rib cage causing his stiffness.  His current interventions are Extensive Chiropractic Care, a lift in his shoe(one leg is longer than the other) always having his feet flat on the floor or a stool when sitting, and the list goes on.   Unfortunately these things aren't a fix, they help but Liam ends his every day in pain.  He has 2 full days of appointments coming up in July down in Madison to discuss if back surgery is already the next step.  Liam's medical journey is costing a lot of money even with our insurance,  reaching deductible and out of pocket max still leaves us with thousands of dollars in medical bills.  We are still working so hard to pay off medical bills from Liam's surgery and appointments last year and this year's bills are already adding up quickly and if surgery is the option, that will for sure bring the medical bills well over what any hard working parent can comfortably afford to pay.  The struggle is becoming too hard to handle on our own and we have come to the point of needing to swallow our pride and reach out for help.  Anything helps, we as parents just want the best of care for our son and don't want worrying about the costs to interfere with that.
