Within days of being brought into this world, Liam had his first open heart surgery followed by two more at different stages in his life. For those of you that have followed his journey, you are aware that he was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome also referred to as HLHS. Without these three surgeries it would not have been possible for him to be here with us today. He has done so well conquering every step of the way. Recently Liam was admitted to the hospital where the doctors identified heart failure. Reality is that he will need much more care as time goes on and we will take it step by step. Every year there are so many medical costs incurred for Liam's care he needs which results in thousands of dollars of liability. They have just started Liam on a medication that will be costing $6,000 a year to keep his heart function stable for as long as possible before considering next steps. I am starting this fundraiser to help with medical bills associated with the care Liam immediately needs along with the continued care he is going to need in the future. Thank you all so much for your love and support.+ Read More
Liam's appointment went really well today. Everything looks really great! His heart function and pressures look awesome. They did some adjustments on the pacemaker and the projected life of the battery is 21 years, which is the longest they have seen. He is able to stop taking his enalapril medication but they want him to stay on the anti rhythmic med since he had one episode of a flutter on January 2nd. Overall a great appointment and awesome results! Keep it up Super Liam! This is the news we wanted and needed to hear! ❤❤❤
Sorry, I am a few days late. Liam did really well with his pacemaker surgery. His surgeon said he handled it like a champ. He is at home recovering and resting. He is doing well but still not thrilled about moving around too much, but getting stronger each day. The doctor said it would take about 5-6 weeks for his sternum to fully heal and he will start to do more things at his own pace as he feels better. He had a strong support system by his side. He is so strong and brave and amazes us every single day. I have included some photos below.
Liam's pacemaker surgery is scheduled for November 26th. Please send positive thoughts and prayers his way. ❤
Liam had his Cardiologist appointment this morning. Pacemaker is the next step. This will be an open heart surgery, but less risky than the other ones. We will keep everyone posted on when this is scheduled. It will most likely be prior to the end of the year. Thank you all again for all of your love support.
