2018 LHS Music-A-Thon

Welcome to the 2018 Lincoln High School Music Department Music-A-Thon and thank you for your support!
On Friday October 19, the Lincoln High School music department will continuously perform music for 6 hours in order to raise money for the music program. The students are doing this because they love music AND because they need the resources to achieve their goals.
Funding for music and arts in our schools is sorely missing. Children who experience music learn not just how to be a great musician, but also learn discipline and teamwork.
Many studies show that music improves performance in other subjects like math and science.
LHS currently offers students the opportunity to perform in Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz ensemble, Guitar lab, Orchestra, Treble Choir, and Cardinal Choir.
These groups perform at community and athletic events, including business luncheons and dinner events, football and basketball games, community parades, and at “Portland’s Living Room”, the Pioneer Square.
LHS even offers a competitive winter percussion ensemble!
All of these groups have won awards and accolades throughout the years.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE LINCOLN MUSIC DEPARTMENT?
1. Donate an amount meaningful to you.
Remember there is virtually no budget from PPS, so you are supporting the basic needs of running a High School music program like TRAVEL TO FESTIVALS, BRINGING IN SPECIALISTS, SUBSIDIES for PERFORMANCE ATTIRE, and SOLO/ENSEMBLE REGISTRATIONS.
2. If you are encouraging a particular student
PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT THE NAME OF THE STUDENT YOU ENCOURAGE IN THE COMMENT BOX!
