Help H.S. Jr Firefighters go to NYC
I teach a very unique program that trains junior volunteer firefighters. It is an elective in a traditional public school. We are not a vo-tech, and our budget is zero dollars. This year we are tryng to visit New York City, because of the wealth of Fire Service History- including everything from the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire to the Terrorist Attacks on September 11th that forever changed the modern fire service. In addition we will interact with the largest fire department in the world. I have contacted the chief of their training center, and we have permission to tour Randall's Island, the training center of the FDNY. This is not a normal tourist location open to the public, but we have permission for a visit due to this being an educational trip. Now we just need to raise enough money to make this trip a reality. I just hope we can sell enough hoagies to get our students from our school in Western Pennsylvania to an educational weekend in the Metro New York area. Sadly, I know that some students will not be able to join us just because of thier families finacial situation, and this is why I make my online plea for assistance. The Fee for each student is $589, so if you donated that amount, you could figure that one student would be able to attend this unique trip. But absolutely any donation would help my students. As I train these young men and women, we often say that we hope you never need their services as emergency responders. But should that need arise, you would want highly trained professionals at the ready. This trip would greatly help with that training and preparation.
Working with an Educational Travel Agent, we are planning to make this trip in April of 2015. Any assitance- no matter how small- would be greatly appreciated.
