Let's Show Them We Care donate now

Friends,
As we approach the holidays, can you please take a moment to donate to my fundraising campaign? Every dollar spent will contribute directly to students from extraordinarily abusive and deprived backgrounds. My dear friend is their teacher and is loving on them as much as possible. She needs our help to provide supplies to them... $10, $20, $50, $100... Every dollar counts. (More details are below). May God Bless you all. Thank you for your contribution. Together we can make a massive impact on the lives of these children.

I've created this "Go Fund Me" campaign on behalf of a dear friend of mine in North Carolina, who has been one of my best friend's since High School (in Northport, Long Island, NY). She is an Angel On Earth who has dedicated her life to teaching Middle School children (ages 11-15) who grew up under the absolute WORST circumstances across the country. (I cannot disclose the details of her name or the school, due to privacy protections of the school and students). Read her words describing her situation:

"I work with a large group of students from across the county in a therapeutic classroom designed to support students with an array of mental illnesses and past trauma.  School has always been difficult for them and many suffer tremendous learning gaps because of missed instruction, hospitalizations, homelessness, and other major life events.  My students have suffered serious abuse, witnessed domestic violence, have a parent or both parents in jail for murder and other crimes, have lived in dog cages, have been in multiple homes/placements over the course of their lives, and generally feel unloved and unwanted.  I could tell some horrible stories, but I would hate for you to know what I have to know.

I have a school store that I have written grants to support and my kiddos earn tickets for positive behaviors and get to 'shop' once a week.  The store is filled with hygiene products, school supplies, shoes, coping skills (stress balls etc), snacks (healthy), and food to take home.  To these kids....anything new is awesome.

We have very limited funding for our classroom that serves 12 kids (literally $25 dollars a month) so I spend a lot of time working on grants, and donations or spend my own money.  Personally, it would be awesome to have access to technology in our classroom (ipads, computers...anything), money to spend on appropriate reading material, magazine subscriptions etc.  I could go on and on.  We spend time in the community doing service learning, we teach our students how to 'work' a bank account, we have a garden, we teach social skills and other basic skills that they did not get from home.  We utilize cognitive behavior therapy in everything that we do".

I was literally crying when I learned how bad the lives of her students were and I vowed to help her. She & her colleagues are doing the incredibly hard work every day because she believes that this is her calling in life. The world needs more people like her and she absolutely inspires me!

My ultimate goal is for this fund to far exceed the amount I posted so we can help get her the resources that she crucially needs. I'd love to be able to equip her classroom with everything she needs.

Most importantly, I want her students to know that they are loved, supported & that there are people in this world who care for them... Let's help teach them a real life lesson that there is a lot of good in the world and that things will get better.

As we approach the holiday season, I encourage you to reflect on the true meaning of the season, recognize the many blessings in your own life & to consider the lives & challenges of these students. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO POSITIVELY CHANGE THE LIVES & TRAJECTORY OF THE LIVES OF THESE YOUNG PEOPLE for the rest of their lives! What an amazing opportunity to be able to do so.

Let's give them the best holiday gift of their lives: an education & the start of a better future. Karma is a boomerang . I greatly appreciate your support & contributions. It means the world to me & I'm grateful for you all.

With Sincere Thanks. Wishing you Happy Holidays & sending you many blessings,

Dani

Alternatively, I am willing to accept cash donations or items of donation from personal friends which can be sent to the students. Please message me for details. I'd like to collect new or gently used & washed hats, gloves, scarfs, boots, coats for the kids. Thank you!
