Let's Build A Library!

The Mezcal & Salsa Night: Fck the Wall, let's build a Library! Charity Concert is an independent fundraising event looking to raise money for and complete the building of the "El Rosario" Community Library in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The "El Rosario" Library is a very unusual community project because it represents how the booming Mezcal Industry can give back to the communities and people that make it. It has been a project largely funded by Mezcal culture and charities, but more importantly, it has been created and built by people fueled with communal sentiment. In a region where the teacher's union has been on strike for years and thousands of kids have partially been left without formal education, a simple project like the building of a community library can change the life and future of the hundreds, or even thousand of kids who would have access to it.

The Mexican economy has come under a great amount of strain and uncertainty in large part due to the potential collapse of trade agreements with The U.S. warding off foreign investment. The anti-Mexican rhetoric north of the border, and the lack of trust in our institutions and government has affected the mexican community in more than one way, and it is now, in times of trouble, that the mexican people need their foreign friends the most - this is an opportunity to show that support!

Through crowdfunding and sponsorship we look to cover the costs for the event, but our desire and intent is that, through this project and its international exposure, we finish building the library and make it fully functional and open to the public.

All proceeds from the event will go straight to the library, including any money left over from the event's fundraising, which means that every single penny donated to this gofundme project will benefit the library directly.
