Kevin Wallace Bike Accident Fund
Donation protected
Many of you know my brother Kevin Wallace as an ever-present ATL musician. In the past, he has used his connections to the Atlanta music scene to organize benefit shows to raise money for friends and folks in need. And, as co-organizer of Happenstance, he has helped generate thousands of dollars for the Atlanta Food Bank. Now, Kevin is the one who needs help.
On June 22, 2016, while riding his bike in Alameda, CA, Kevin was involved in a horrific bicycle accident. He was riding with traffic when a negligent driver forced him into a parked car, launching him onto another parked car. The negligent driver never stopped. Kevin sustained a flail chest, including 8 broken ribs, a broken clavicle, 3 spinal fractures, a bruised liver, and a punctured lung. He spent 17 days in Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA.
After surgery and 17 days in the hospital, Kevin racked up quite the hospital bill. And, the bills have continued to add up since his return to the ATL, because he must see an orthopedist and a pulmonologist on a regular basis. To compound the problem, Kevin was unable to work for 7 weeks which further contributed to his debt. Despite having insurance, Kevin’s injury-related debt and lost wages total over $25,000 to date.
He’s already well on his way to a full recovery, and I want nothing more for him than to focus on recovery, rather than the mounting debt he must pay. In the event any of you have the means and the will to donate to help my brother, I know Kevin would be forever grateful!
Thank you very much and please help spread the word!
