As many of you already know Hallie has been in the hospital since Christmas Day. She went from having mono to going in to septic shock, she’s fighting to get better with all of her family around supporting her. We are asking for a little bit of your help while Bob and Jessica continue to stay by her side. Please donate if you can, it will help go towards the travel costs and bills that may pile up. Thank you!!

Update on our Hallie

Hallie is making such amazing progress that even the doctors are in shock. As you know from our last update Hallie had a trach put in so she could come off of the mechanical ventilator and move a bit more. That procedure has proven to be unbelievably beneficial for Hallie. Not only is she able to get out of bed but she can walk almost 200 feet and has successfully climbed 5 stairs. Yes she gets tired and yes she is wiped out after but she’s doing it! She’s working so hard at her recovery. Bob and Jessica were finally able to hear Hallies voice on Sunday and she’s been talking non stop since. The docs are now performing capping trials with her trach to see if it can be removed this week. She will need to be on an iv antibiotic as a precautionary measure for a few more weeks due to the infection she had in her stomach. She is very thin and her muscle tone has deteriorated significantly but the weight and muscle will come back in time. She has been cleared to eat and drink but the only thing she wants is water and grandmas eggplant parm (Which I’m sure she’ll get this weekend)

Jessica and bob are eternally grateful for all of your thoughts, prayers, shares of the go fund me and donations. As you know they have taken a huge hit financially as their income has essentially been cut in half since December 25th. We are still unsure of the amount of time Hallie will be in the hospital so any monetary donation would help tremendously. Thank you again and please keep Hallie in your thoughts! #teamhallie

Weekly update on our Hallie
This week has has been a roller coaster for Hallie. Not only emotionally but physically and medically as well. As you know from our update last week Hallie was put back on the ventilator. She aspirated when they initially took her off of the vent which in turn caused the lower lobes of her lungs to collapse. She had to go back on the ventilator because of this. She has been given IVIG treatments successfully to give her more antibodies. Her clonus was treated successfully with IV antibiotics and is now gone. All 3 of the drains have been removed that were draining the fluid from the cyst that had burst causing Hallie to go into septic shock. Hallie has had several tests over the past week to see if there is anything that the Docs are missing. Unfortunately, she had to have her braces removed for one of the tests. Those will not be put back on until she is home. All of her tests came back negative and her MRI and EEG came out perfect. This has led the Doctors to believe that the reason for Hallie not getting better in the timeframe they were hoping is due to her body being so weak from septic shock. She has also been on the ventilator for a month now which has caused extreme weakness as well. The good news is Bob and Jess were finally told that Hallie is expected to make a full recovery. This is the first time doctors have been able to tell them this. It is going to be a very long road to recovery but it will happen. Hallie did have surgery Friday to have a tracheotomy put in temporarily. This was an extremely hard decision for both Bob, Jessica and Hallie. The tracheotomy will allow her to get off of the mechanical ventilator and get up and move around without restriction. Hallie will slowly be able to do more and more physical and occupational therapy thus getting her out of the hospital quicker.
Please continue to help us in any way that you can. Jessica has not worked since Christmastime and will not be able return until Hallie is progressed much more in her recovery. This has undeniably caused a huge financial strain for their household. Bob and Jessica are extremely grateful for all of the thoughts, prayers, texts, shares of the go fund me and monetary donations that have been given to them. It does not go unnoticed and it’s what is helping get them through this day by day.

Update on our Hallie

News this week isn’t as positive as last week. Hallie has regressed a bit in her recovery. Unfortunately, she had to be put back on the ventilator for a variety of reasons. They have tried several times to wean her but her lungs just cannot work like they need to right now. She has also been diagnosed with Clonus which basically is causing her muscles to spasm and retract. The Doctors are injecting new antibodies into her body because her antibodies are currently fighting each other. The neurologists are also working in conjunction with the physicians to find answers. The Doctors at Golisano have been amazing but are stumped with Hallies case and are in contact with physicians around the country to get their insight on Hallies condition. Everything visible is negative but she just isn’t getting better at the rate she should be.

Our family needs your help please! Whether it be your thoughts, prayers, share of this page or a monetary donation. This has obviously taken a toll on Bob and Jessica , who have been at Hallies side 24 hours a day and on Hallies little brother who is missing her terribly.

Bob and Jessica are so thankful for every person that has reached out to them, kept Hallie in their thoughts, shared the go fund me and made a donation. They appreciate EVERYTHING and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you
