Victoria and her son @ BC Children's Hospital

Donation protected
Both our friend Victoria and her son Ryley started getting sick last month (March).  That was the beginning of a much larger medical journey than they were expecting, for each of them! Victoria's medical problem was difficult to diagnose, forcing her to visit the ER a few times before they realized she has Myopericarditis.

Meanwhile, not helping matters, her son Ryley was diagnosed with a rare and non contagious illness called HSP. Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) is a disease involving inflammation of small blood vessels throughout the whole body. His body inside and outside has been dramatically affected. He was discharged home from hospital prematurely after his first admission. He had to be home schooled for a couple weeks while recovering, but instead  he worsened to the point of needing re-admission to the hospital. In a matter of 2 weeks he lost 22lbs.

Ryley was too sick to be kept in Campbell River Hospital. He needed a transfusion, his kidneys and intestines are damaged, and this illness has caused high blood pressure. He was medically flown to BC Children's Hospital for treatment. His kidneys are damaged to the point that upon discharge from the hospital they will need to be monitored every week initially. Some monitoring  of his kidneys will continue  thereafter for a year.

Victoria's myopericarditis was diagnosed a few days before Ryley was flown to BC Children's Hospital. During this time she has had chest pain which routinely accompanies the illness, and now having regular blood work done to monitor her cardiac stress levels. She's taking medication for that  for the next 3 months and been advised to stay rested during that time...

Victoria recently started a new career path as a residential support worker at the end of February. Less than a month after starting she's had to start taking sick leave. Her husband Troy is at home in Campbell River trying to juggle work and the 2 remaining children at home.

Both Victoria's and Ryley's medical struggles had placed a financial and logistical strain on their lives. They would so appreciate some help!

Thank you
